  1.          Instructions for Downloading and Plotting Slides

  4. This message contains one or more slide packages.  Each package has
  5. been sent to you as a single compressed file so you can download it to
  6. your PC more easily. At first this may seem complicated, but if you've
  7. ever downloaded a large number of files, you'll appreciate how simple
  8. this process really is.

  10. Here is what to do:
  11.  
  12. 1. The slide presentations show up as "MPE files" in the attached
  13. message. Copy the file from HPDesk to MPE.
  14.  
  15. InTray> open "slide message" MESSAGE 1> copy "slides.exe" to (slides)
  16. MESSAGE 1> close InTray> signoff
  17.  
  18. NOTE: If you have the download script for HPDesk, you can use it in
  19.       place of steps 1 & 2. After opening the message, type:
  20.  
  21. MESSAGE 1> download "slides.exe" c:\temp\slides.exe
  22.  
  23. 2. Download each MPE file to your PC as a binary file using AdvanceLink
  24. or another terminal program as you would normally do. Download it to
  25. your hard disc for best results although a floppy disc will work. You
  26. should download them so they have names ending in ".EXE" on your PC.
  27. For example, download (remote filename) "SLIDES" to (local filename)
  28. "SLIDES.EXE".

  30. 3. Exit your terminal program.  Using PAM select MS-DOS on your PC.
  31.  
  32. 4. From the DOS prompt, change directories (CD) to get where you copied
  33. the ".EXE" file.  For example, if you put the file in a directory
  34. called "temp" on your C: drive, you would type:

  36. C:> cd c:\temp
  37.  
  38. 5. Now you need to expand the ".EXE" file into separate Drawing Gallery
  39. files. To expand the compressed presentation, type the ".EXE" file name
  40. followed by the destination where you want the Drawing Gallery files to
  41. appear. For example, to put the Drawing Gallery files onto a floppy
  42. disc in your A: drive, you would type:

  44. C:> slides.exe a:
  45.  
  46. 6. All the Drawing Gallery files will appear at the destination you
  47. specify. You can check this by typing:
  48.  
  49. C:> a: A:> dir
  50.  
  51. 7. Delete the ".EXE" file from your hard disc.  In our example you
  52. would type:

  54. A:> c: C:> del slides.exe
  55.  
  56. 8. Plot or edit the Drawing Gallery files as you would normally.
